- How do I know if my firearm is safe to operate?
At Lakes Area Gun Repair, our staff has the knowledge and ability to precisely identify your firearms structural integrity to determine if it’s safe to function at the range or for carry!
- How long is my permit to carry good for?
The MN permit to carry requires individuals to be 21 years of age or older, must complete the class, and upon receipt of your permit from the local law enforcement, it is good for 5 years!
- If I get/have a MN carry permit, can I get others?
By successfully completing and receiving a MN carry permit, you can register for carry permit of Florida or Utah for greater coverage of states that hold reciprocity with MN.
- Some shops won’t consider repairing my firearm, can you?
Some firearms, like cars, are just outside the bounds of repair. Sometimes parts are not available to replace what is needed, and service work can cost more than the cost of the firearm.
- My rifle was my dad’s, it’s old, is it still safe to shoot?
When it comes to old firearms passed down from generation to generation, there are plenty of things to consider. Was it well maintained? I’ve seen guns dated back to the Wild West that can still be shot today, and others that while just as old, should be wall hangers.
- Do you rechamber rifles?
In a word, no…l don’t offer some services that may come to my shop, simply because I don’t have the tools required for the job.
- I’m a peace officer/security officer, can you service my duty weapon?
Absolutely! From sights, attachments, and other internal work! I can certainly keep your weapon on the ready!
- I’m pretty busy and always on the go, I don’t have time to…

- How long is your class?
My carry permit class runs just over about 3 hours, but it depends on how many questions you ask during the presentation on how long it goes!
